FLL FAQ
What is FIRST LEGO League?
Teams build and program LEGO robots to complete missions on a themed field and present an innovation project—guided by Gracious Professionalism and Core Values.
Season timeline
Preseason (spring/summer) → Team formation (late summer) → Qualifiers (fall) → Championships (winter). Exact dates vary by region.
Time commitment
1-2 sessions per week during the season, plus optional scrimmages and events.
President's Volunteer Service Award
Mandarin Academy of Metuchen has been an approved Certifying Organization since June 2021.
The President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a national honor recognizing exceptional community service across the United States. Awards are based on verified service hours at Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Lifetime levels. Eligible individuals and families can earn the award through MAM—contact us to get started.

- MAM verifies service hours, certifies eligibility, and submits awards.
